This is a really useful analogy. One of the things that a lot of my graduate work, both on academic and pedagogical subjects, has been about how best to discuss race (and other forms of “difference” that put people at a disadvantage) in order to change the system to make things more equitable. This analogy is definitely one that I can see using in the classroom (whether I’m the teacher or student).
